WednesdayWellness: To run or not to run

I have 4 hours and 39 minutes to decide whether or not I should run in the Fargo Marathon this spring. It's only 10 weeks away, so I would definitely not be doing the full. But not running for more than a year and gaining 20 pounds doesn't give me much hope that I could even finish the second.

So who's with me? Anyone else want to train to run the Fargo 10K with me on May 17. If you don't live here, want to train along for a race near you?

I'm shooting for the 10K. It's 6.2 miles, which really isn't that far — if you're in shape. I'm researching some different training regimes, and I think I could make it if I actually stick to it. And isn't working out so much easier when you have your sights on a goal.

I'd like to start a weekly post where we update each other on our progress and have an open discussion about getting in running shape. Each week we'll issue a challenge for the whole group and hold ourselves accountable.

So here we go. Let's do this. I'm going to call it "10k in 10 weeks."

WardrobeWednesday: Bright colors for spring

Even though I basically live in black clothing (today to work I wore all black, only to come home and change into all black "comfy" clothes), I am so jazzed about the bright colors popping up everywhere this spring.

I may cloak myself in noir, but I'm not afraid to accessorize with the rainbow.

Here are some of my favorites:

FiveThingsFriday: Cupcakes

For no particular reason, I'm feeling like celebrating this weekend. Maybe it's the Oscars, or possibly because it's almost spring, or perhaps it's just that there are so many great things happening right now.

Here's a five cupcakes that I'm dying to try:

ThriftyThursday: Favorites on a budget

My name is Heidi, and I'm a shopaholic.

It's not so bad in the way that I'm ready for an episode of "Intervention," but I do have some unhealthy shopping habits. I admit it.

But in many ways, shopping is very therapeutic. I've always loved trying new products or using fresh accessories to dress up a dull outfit.

Here are a few ideas that can help feed that desire without breaking the bank:

Pieces of my weekend: part 2

We had a great time with the Timberwolves last night. Ricky Rubio played the best game of his career, and the t-wolves pulled off the win in the final seconds of the game.

We cut our trip a little short because of the threat of a winter storm so we missed out on seeing my sister, her husband and their littles.

Snow it did. We have white stuff for only the second or third time this winter. It's a good year to live in Fargo.

MondayMust: DIY headbands

My hair is at that awkward, between-cuts stage and I need some serious help. Headbands sound like a nice solution.

Pieces of my weekend - part one

Troy and I are headed to Minneapolis for our first-ever Timberwolves game. It's my Valentines gift to him.

I have a three-day weekend and it's already been jam-packed.

On Friday we hung out with friends and shared a few pitchers.

My mom was in town for Saturday for a day of shopping and a night at Celebration of Women and their Music, a fantastic event at the Fargo Theatre.

Now we are on the road to the game and a fancy night in a hotel with plans to see our friends and family and their little ones.

Hope you're having a fantastic weekend and I will update you with my photos.
