Pieces of my weekend
This time of year, it's hard to feel like doing much but curling up at home. Lately I've tried to find small indulgences to chase away the winter blues: drinking champagne after a good workout, spending an extra half-hour in the morning reading in bed, making galentines with my best gal (coming in a future post). While the temperatures barely broke zero this weekend, seeing Justin Timberlake in concert and hosting a tapas party made for an awesome weekend.

We have a new German bier hall in Fargo. It's just not the same without you, Kathryn and Matthias, but Troy tried having a good time without you.
Sorry, Matthias, but no Flensburger. We'll work on the owners to get it on tap so you have an excuse to come visit.

Today's chilly, wet weather left me with no other choice than to bust out my knitting needles. It's the perfect half-conscious activity for a day of movie watching. I'm working on yet another scarf, but this year, I'm ready to branch out. Feel free to share some projects you're working on.

Stylin'Saturday: Fall coats
I woke up this morning wearing long johns and wool socks. I still refuse to turn on the heat; it's not THAT cold. But this new chill in the air (not to mention the first day of fall) has me thinking about how to stay warm. In North Dakota, the fall season lasts about two weeks before plunging us into winter, so coats need to be functional and capable of handling the layers required to maintain proper body temperature when it's below zero.

StoryTimeSaturday: My wedding dress (Part 5)
This is a weekly, eight-part series where I'm going to share just a
small part of my wedding with you: the invitations, the photos, the
decor, my dress, my makeup, my wedding party, the music and the dance. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
For so many brides, the dress is the most important piece of planning. I, too, loved my dress, but I was pretty relaxed about it.
I picked it out after trying on probably six dresses total. It was the last one my consultant showed me, and it had just come in that day. I was the first person to try it on.
What I loved about it was the heavy beading on the top and the fact that it was made of taffeta. The silhouette wasn't something I necessarily thought would work well for me. After trying it on, I fell in love with the shape it gave me, thanks to the sweatheart neckline and corset-laced back.
I had absolutely no alterations done, so my recommendation is to look for a corsetted dress if you want to save on alterations. I loved the numerous vintage-looking lace dresses I'd tried on, but I knew those need to pretty much be custom fit to really look great.
The dress is LoVeLa Style No. 9015 by Liz Fields. I purchased it at the Bridal Shop in Fargo.

WardrobeWednesday: Tights
Temperatures up here in Fargo are getting a little bit colder than probably reasonable to continue wearing dresses and skirts, but there are some amazing tights out there that are helping me persevere.
